In a lot of discussions and debates, the discourse seems to have become more and more polarized. Often only two opinions seem to be allowed, you are either for something or against it – black or white.
To visualize the topic I was asked to create five black-and-white illustrations as the whole magazine was in black and white. To show the different aspects of these polarized discussions, I chose an orchestra as a visual metaphor: a group of different people with different instruments, tones and sounds, who are supposed to play in union but are divided by something.
Along with these five illustrations, I was interviewed by Atifa Qazi about my work, this project, my ethics and how illustrations can change the discourse.
