US-Election 2020:
Biden vs. Trump

The presidential election in the US was one of the major topics of 2020 – also in Germany. For the news campaign of German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, I illustrated portraits of the candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Building up on these portraits, I also illustrated two explanatory articles.
Both portraits were widely used in the Tagesspiegel news campaign, especially in infographics and maps, online and in print, but also on Social Media during the election night.
The two explanatory articles are about how the US election works (as it is quite different to the one in Germany) and what impact Covid-19 had on the process this year. The first article guides through the process of the US election in general. The second article answers 20 of the most important questions regarding the US election in 2020.
