There are not many other public spaces, where you can casually meet with your friends, your parents, your grandmother, your colleagues, first dates or just go by yourself. For a long time the café has been a place for everybody – in Germany for more than 300 years.
How did the place look back then, what did people do in there, how did it change over time and what can we learn from its evolution about our own?
